The woman behind the name
Known as the “Angel of the Battlefield,” Clara Barton rushed into danger during the Civil War, bringing comfort, supplies, and lifesaving care to wounded soldiers. When the war ended, Barton founded the Office of Missing Soldiers, reuniting more than 20,000 families and dentifying unmarked graves. Her passion for helping others led her to establish the American Red Cross, a legacy that continues to bring hope and relief in times of disaster. Clara Barton’s life was one of courage, compassion, and service, and she remains a shining example of the American spirit.
